What is niacinamide?

Skin barrier damage? Niacinamide will help you. Dull skin tone, acne marks and dark spots? You’ll love it. Signs of ageing such as wrinkles and fine lines? Here’s niacinamide, the skin-repairing ingredient that suits all types of skin, even those sensitive and prone to redness.

Sourced from plant-based foods such as nuts, seeds, green vegetables, and yeast, niacinamide (also known as nicotinamide) is an antioxidant form of vitamin B3 that helps restore the skin health and radiance by reducing premature signs of ageing such as wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

How does it work?

Niacinamide offers a multitude of benefits for all types of skin and a range of concerns. As a result, a plumper, brighter, healthier-looking complexion.
— Helps strengthen the skin’s barrier by boosting the production of ceramides, which in turn, helps retain moisture.

— Protects the skin against environmental stressors such as UV rays and pollution that can lead to premature signs of ageing.

— Improves dull and uneven tone by brightening the skin and helping reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

— Increases elastin and collagen production and reduces fine lines and wrinkles for a plumper complexion.

— Soothes redness, calms inflammation and helps minimize acne and acne marks.

— Balances oil production and visibly minimizes enlarged pores.

How to use it?

When it comes to general skin health, you may obtain some of the benefits of niacinamide from a healthy diet. Vitamin B-3 is found in eggs, cereals, green veggies, beans, fish and milk. However, there’s no way to guarantee that the nutrients in your diet are impacting your overall skin health. The only way to ensure that niacinamide is targeting your skin care concerns is to use it topically.

You can use niacinamide every day, day and night, and easily combine it with other active ingredients. Apply it after cleansing and before layering other products.

Safe to use for sensitive skin as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding, niacinamide offers benefits for skin starting in concentrations as low as 0.2% and works best in the range of 3-7% without any side effects.

When paired with hyaluronic acid, as in our All-Day Hydration Serum, niacinamide can have a double effect as HA is known for locking in moisture and improving skin texture.

Can niacinamide be used every day?

Niacinamide is a gentle and well-tolerated ingredient that is safe to use in the morning and night. Topically, it can be found in a varying range of concentrations all the way up to 20%.

Can niacinamide be used on all skin types?

Gentle and effective, it is usually well tolerated by all skin types, even the most sensitive. It doesn't tend to cause irritation or inflammation, and it’s also safe to use during pregnancy.

What ingredients can be mixed and combined with niacinamide?

Incredibly versatile, niacinamide is completely compatible with all other actives such as hyaluronic acid, retinol and its alternatives, and vitamin C, either together in the same product or combined from different products.

Can you apply niacinamide before makeup?

Light-weighted and fast-absorbing, niacinamide can easily be applied as the last step in your routine, just before makeup and sunscreen.

Can niacinamide help with acne?

Niacinamide is an anti-inflammatory that works to reduce the swelling and redness associated with acne. It also helps to balance excess sebum production, and it will also reduce acne marks.

How long will it take to see the results?

While some niacinamide-containing products can start to show benefits in two weeks, studies have shown that after 12 weeks, there is an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, skin elasticity, and skin tone. If you see immediate results, it’s likely due to a complementary ingredient that is added to give a temporary immediate effect, which is also desirable.
