ROWSE

1. Hi Isis, could you introduce yourself to our readers? What do you do and what is your background?

ISIS
I work as an artist, as a model and in the last few months I have grown into a new role as an influencer. I’m a mom to my almost three-year-old son and I live with my husband in Berlin Mitte.

2. Can you tell us a bit about the path that brought you to your art?

ISIS
I have always been creatively active. I studied fashion design and always needed a creative outlet. When I became a mother right at the start of the pandemic, I found a new way to create and used the time of my son’s naps during the day for painting. I just painted for my own mental health and to enjoy the process, not for any particular end result, and eventually I started to share and also sell my paintings.

3. We love the way you depict ordinary scenes and objects from daily life, and also your use of colour. How would you describe your paintings?

ISIS
I feel like my paintings are very personal and authentic to who I am and my aesthetic. I try to focus on the beauty in everyday situations and capture them in a fun way. I want people to have a good time looking at my paintings, to find new details and references every time they look at them, and maybe motivate them to be more present to see the beauty in their daily life.

4. How do you think becoming a mother has changed your creative life?

ISIS
Becoming a mother has changed my self-esteem and ambition to become my most authentic self. I want to be a good mother and role model, and I think trying to figure out what that means has changed my life a lot. Having a child changes your priorities and time becomes more precious. I’m so much more aware of how I spend my days and what activities and people bring me energy and joy. Taking care of my mental health and my body has become an important task, and with that, creating and painting has become a big part of my everyday life.

5. Could you describe your studio? How does it feel to work there?

ISIS
My studio is a small space in a quiet backyard and I love having a place to work at outside of our apartment. Committing to renting an extra space was a big step but it also kind of pushed me to get more serious about painting. It’s a creative bubble where I can just explore and experiment. We have all our machines and gadgets and fun little projects in there. I try to stay off my phone as much as possible and just listen to music or podcasts in there. I also love to bring my son and paint with him.

6. What makes a good day for you?

ISIS
I love getting up early in the morning and having a relaxed start into the day with my son and husband. It’s a good day if I can make it to the studio and get to work on something fun. Even though, or maybe because I'm an introvert, I need to recharge my social batteries by meeting close friends at the playground in the afternoon. After that, I love to go grocery shopping and then cook with my son and then watch a film with my husband.

7. Could you tell us how is your daily skincare routine like?

ISIS
I try not to do too much and use mostly organic products. I clean my face in the evening with the Tangerine Cleansing Balm and then I apply some Hemp oil. In the morning I just wash my face with water and then moisturize. Besides an eyebrow pencil, I don't use any makeup.

8. You have recently discovered ROWSE, what do you like the most about our plant-based products? Do you have a favourite so far?

ISIS
I really love the natural smell of all the products. My favorite so far is Hemp oil. It feels very nourishing and purifying at the same time.

9. What’s your idea of beauty? How do you think beauty makes us feel?

ISIS
My idea of beauty is very natural and clean. I love to see what other people see like imperfections: scars, freckles, wrinkles. I love a confident person feeling good in their skin, taking care of their body and mind.

ROWSE

10. What’s next for you? Any plans for the upcoming months?

ISIS
I want to focus my energies on painting and doing fun projects. I’m working on new paintings for a few occasions to show them and I also have a few new fine art prints in the making.
