ROWSE

1. Hi Eli, tell us a bit about yourself and your work.

ELI
I was born in Buenos Aires and currently live in Madrid, although I spend a lot of time in Argentina. I'm a holistic facialist, specialized in hands-on, non-invasive facial therapies for both aesthetic and therapeutic purposes. I worked for many years as a makeup artist in fashion, film, and advertising, and realized that skin preparation and massages were more important than makeup in achieving a healthy and natural look. I trained as a facialist and then mastered different techniques of firming facial massages, cosmetic facial acupuncture, and Gua Sha with the best specialists in each therapy. After much study and years of experience, I have designed my signature technique, offer personalized facials and teach classes, workshops, and professional training.

2. What does beautiful skin mean to you? What does skin need to be healthy and cared for?

ELI
I believe we tend to confuse beautiful skin with perfect, flawless skin. To me, beautiful skin is healthy, hydrated, radiant, juicy, oxygenated, decongested, and balanced. It can have lines, wrinkles, visible pores, blemishes, marks and freckles. I like people who don't hide their age but show off a healthy complexion and look radiant.

3. Lymphatic massage, kobido, facial yoga, acupuncture... Each facialist has their technique. Can you explain yours?

ELI
My treatments focus on detoxifying and oxygenating deep tissue, relaxing and repositioning facial muscles, and sculpting facial features. I pay particular attention to relieving symptoms of bruxism (teeth grinding) and the discomfort and asymmetries caused by muscle tension. My technique combines slow and deep movements that work on fascia and muscles. It is a powerful internal stimulus that produces an immediate lifting effect and deep relaxation.

4. Why is a holistic approach important?

ELI
The holistic approach allows us not to stay on the surface but to treat the body as a whole, working on all its systems. It is the only and best way to improve the skin from the inside out, not just externally. My treatment is way more than a facial; it is a therapy, as it involves the nervous system and has an emotional impact.

5. Is it possible to change the skin by dedicating a few minutes a day to self-massage?

ELI
Yes, if we do it with intention, it can improve significantly. It's like doing physical exercise or yoga; if you do it every day and consistently, you'll see improvements. It is preventive, because by relaxing facial muscles, we can reposition the facial structure and release tension, preventing some lines from forming. It is also reparative if there are fine lines or asymmetries due to poor facial posture. If there are deep wrinkles, massage won't erase them, but it can soften them and prevent them from becoming more pronounced. In addition, self-massages significantly improve skin tone by stimulating circulation and improving tissue oxygenation. They help mobilize toxins that may be stagnant due to poor lymphatic system function, resulting in decongested, radiant, and deeply cleansed and detoxified skin. They are very relaxing and alleviate bruxism symptoms, allowing us to rest better, reduce oxidative stress, and improve cell repair.

6. What do you like most about Gua Sha? How should it be used?

ELI
I love the Gua Sha technique! It is very pleasant and allows us to work on specific areas. It is an excellent tool for facial massage, as long as we know how to use it to reap its benefits. Firstly, a basic understanding of the lymphatic system and facial muscles, and secondly, the direction, angle, and pressure with which to use the tool in each area to work effectively. It may seem complicated, but it's not, and it's a technique that anyone can do daily.

7. In addition to bruxism massage, we receive many requests to attend your sculpting and firming workshops and eye contour treatments. Is there a technique or gesture that can be applied to our daily routine?

ELI
There is a genetic component that we cannot control, but there are some things we can do to improve the eye area. It's always best to identify the root of the problem. For example, if you tend to have bags under eyes, learning what may exacerbate them can be helpful –it could be a high-salt diet, screen use, bruxism, or neck tension. From there, we work on it. If you suffer from bruxism, you may wake up with puffy eyes because excessive tension in the jaw area inhibits proper toxin drainage. In this case, choose a very lightweight eye contour, as a thicker texture can lead to congestion. My recommendation for dark circles is to use a daily eye contour with caffeine like ROWSE's, as it improves circulation, evens the skin tone, hydrates, and decongests. This helps prevent fine lines and reduces inflammation. While using screens, we should blink frequently and move our eyes to stimulate drainage. And relax the jaw and neck muscles a lot; all of that is linked to the eye area.

8. How did you discover ROWSE? What do you enjoy most about their products? What are your essentials?

ELI
I love clean cosmetics and promote their use. I came across ROWSE through a friend and fell in love with their aesthetic universe and their honest approach. Shortly after, I had to give a self-massage workshop in Madrid, and ROWSE collaborated with their products. It was a perfect match; ROWSE products and my massages complement each other, creating an incredible ritual.I like to understand the ingredients, where each one comes from, and I like that they are non-toxic, they are good for my skin but are also non-toxic for both my body and the planet. I enjoy them because they are products that inspire me, and I love how they feel on my skin. And then there are the aromas; using their products is a pleasure that I absolutely enjoy. My favourites are the Tangerine Cleansing Balm, I love the texture, its soothing scent, and the way it leaves my skin clean without drying it out; the 100% Organic Rose Water, which is very gentle on my skin; the All-Day Hydration Serum, as niacinamide helps me a lot with spots and pores; the Eye Contour Serum, because it is very lightweight and really helps with puffiness; and the Hemp Oil, which I discovered thanks to ROWSE and helps me a lot when my skin is more sensitive, reactive, or I have a breakout.

9. We've just launched the new Regenerate Night Serum with Bakuchiol, a vegan alternative to retinol for preventing and reducing wrinkles and spots. How can we enhance its benefits with a facial massage in the nighttime routine?

ELI
In this case, I recommend starting with a good facial massage using the Tangerine Cleansing Balm. It has an incredible texture and allows for a good massage, activating circulation and relaxing muscles. This way, when you remove the balm, the skin is more receptive to maximize the benefits of bakuchiol.

10. Finally, what is your daily routine like?

ELI
When I wake up, I always try to stretch and open my chest, relax my neck, and do some stretches to improve my facial posture. Some days I wash my face with just water—I know it's not what most dermatologists recommend, nor is it suitable for everyone, but it works well for my skin, which tends to be dehydrated. When I feel the need for a deep cleanse, I use the solid facial cleanser. Next, I spray my skin with 100% Organic Rose Water or some hydrating toner, and then, with the skin still moist, I apply the hyaluronic serum, a moisturizer, and sunscreen. When applying the moisturizer, I give myself a few minutes of self-massage, not much time but intense and focused on what I want to work on. Some days, I alternate manual massage with Gua Sha.At nighttime, I use the Tangerine Cleansing Balm and emphasize the massage to get the most out of its texture. Afterward, 100% Organic Rose Water, a serum with the active ingredients my skin needs at that moment, and finally, I apply a few drops of oil or the Regenerate Night Serum.
