Great hair starts with healthy scalp

Exfoliation matters. It’s all about removing dead cells and impurities that tend to pile up on the surface of your skin –and that includes the scalp. Often overlooked in skincare and haircare routines, the scalp requires specific care and regular exfoliation. In short, a healthy scalp means great, healthy hair.

Think of the scalp as the foundation for your hair’s beauty and health. Regular scalp exfoliation helps prevent clogged hair follicles, which is a common cause of dryness, flakiness, dandruff, hair thinning and dullness, and even hair loss. For oily hair types and those who use styling products frequently, it becomes even more essential, as excess sebum but also leave-in conditioners and hair sprays can leave residues that shampoo alone may not remove.
Exfoliating your scalp can be soothing and stress-relieving, and doing it consistently is the best route to healthier, shinier, bouncier hair.

What are the benefits of exfoliating the scalp?
— Reduces and prevents dryness, flakiness and dandruff: it helps remove dead cells, excess sebum and product buildup that can clog hair follicles over time.

— Ensures shine and volume: clean, clear hair follicles ensure shinier and bouncier hair, free from residue that can weigh it down.

— Prevents hair loss and encourages healthy growth: by improving blood circulation, the massage oxygenates the scalp and delivers essential nutrients proven to boost vitality and strength.

— Enhances product absorption: clean and clear hair follicles ensure optimal absorption of haircare treatments like masks, serums and nourishing oils.
Start small with a once-weekly gentle  scalp scrub (or once every two weeks), stick to synthetic-free, 100% plant-based ingredients, and be gentle when using your fingertips to avoid irritation. Naturally scented with fig and basil, and formulated with olive seed powder, olive oil and shea butter, our Oliveta Body & Scalp Scrub removes impurities and dead cells while hydrating and rebalancing the scalp with skin-loving vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids. It’s a physical exfoliator: you should apply it to damp hair and massage in circular motions all over the scalp for 1-2 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then wash your hair as usual with your regular shampoo, rinsing thoroughly to remove any exfoliant residue.
As a final step, and with your hair still damp, you can use 3 drops of our 100% Organic Jojoba Oil for a scalp massage. Oil-balancing and fast-absorbing, Jojoba oil comes packed with antioxidants and vitamin E and has proven to work as a repairing active ingredient that helps restore and retain moisture and strengthens hair and scalp.
As it happens with the skin on your face, over-exfoliating can cause irritation and sensitivity, drying out the scalp and leading to excess oil, dullness and dandruff. Be cautious and always choose toxic-free 100% plant-based scalp-friendly products for your haircare rituals.
