Sarah Wood ROWSE favorites
I am the most true version of myself when I am surrounded by beauty and in motion, be it traveling, collaborating, creating, or moving my body. The best is when I get to combine all of these at the same time, be it writing a story about a creative I admire or meeting shiny wonderful people in a gorgeous place, like when I joined ROWSE on a trip to the Faroe Islands and met @Nuria, @isabella, @ZoeSuen, and @Florence. I also get energy from collaborating with friends on special projects, like posing for these photos taken by my friend @Chloefrostsmith at @Penicuikestate, and creating beautiful experiences together, like when my husband and I renovated our flat in Edinburgh or started hosting guests at our cottage in the Catskills in upstate New York.
To counterbalance my at-times frenetic energy, I also need to find stillness. For me, doing my morning pages (a three-page free-writing exercise designed by Julia Cameron from The Artist's Way) is how I create order from the disparate threads in my mind and weave a sense of peace and clarity. I cannot go a day without it. If I'm anxious or stressed my husband will always ask me: Did you do your journal? And if the answer is no, I know exactly what I need to do next.
