Why do we love, and recommend, plant oils?

Plant oils have been part of beauty rituals since Ancient Egypt. Extracted from seeds, nuts and fruits, they offer a myriad of vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids able to heal the skin and target specific needs. This is something that has been extensively researched. At ROWSE, we believe that plant oils can work for all skin types, you just have to find the one that works for you.

1. They are all-natural beauty elixirs
Having a great affinity with the epidermis, plant oils and macerates easily penetrate the skin's upper layers, supporting its natural functions, replenishing its lipids, and preventing moisture loss. Each oil is packed with beneficial properties, offering nourishing, moisturizing, purifying, repairing, or antioxidant effects. This makes plant oils a versatile addition to any skincare regimen, catering to various skin needs and concerns.
2. Not all oils are created equal
Quality matters when it comes to plant oils. Our plant oils are 100% organic and cold-pressed. This means the oil is extracted from sustainably and freshly sourced seeds, nuts or fruits without using any heat or chemical processes, allowing all vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids to remain intact and maximizing its efficacy.
3. Choose the one that works for you
Different plant oils cater to different skin types and needs. Many oils are non-comedogenic, which means they won’t clog pores and can be suitable for oily skin.  Jojoba oil and Hemp oil, thanks to their antibacterial properties, anti-inflammatory effects, and rapid absorption,  help balance sebum production and can even heal and prevent certain types of acne. Rosehip oil is richer, but it’s still light-weight and doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky finish. Understanding your skin type and selecting the appropriate oil can lead to significant improvements in your skin's health and appearance.
4. Three or four drops is all you need
When it comes to plant oils, a little goes a long way. Whether used in their pure form or combined in harmonious synergies (such as that in our Body Oils, the Night Serums and the All-Day Moisturizer), plant oils offer concentrated doses of nourishment and a wide range of specific qualities to improve your skin’s health and appearance. Apply just three of four drops to damp skin and use your fingertips to create an emulsion that will nourish and moisturize your skin, preventing dryness.
5. Plant oils vs Essential oils
While both are used in skincare and aromatherapy, essential oils are highly concentrated extracts and should always be properly diluted in a carrier oil to prevent irritation. Whenever you use a new oil, it's important to do a patch test, especially if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies.
6. Proper storage matters
Everything from the temperature to humidity and air exposure can lead to oxidation, reducing their beneficial properties. Keep your plant-based oil in a cool, dark place, and be aware of the expiration date –freshness is key to fully, and safely, reap their benefits.
