We love avocado, in all its forms. Loaded with nutrients, fiber and super healthy fatty acids, it has so many benefits for inside and outside the body! Did you know its oil can heal, soften, and nourish dry and damaged skin? It works wonders to prevent fine lines, and it also makes hair shine. And what about an avocado toast for breakfast? Who can resist? If you ever use an avocado, don’t throw the pit. Here, we’ll show you how to grow your own avocado plant as a tribute to this super fruit.

Ingredients:
1 avocado pit, 1 sharp knife, 1 glass jar, 1 paper tissue, 1 plant pot, potting mix

Method:

  1. Remove the pit from the avocado and wash the remaining fruit off
  2.  With a sharp knife, gently remove the brown skin off
  3.  Wrap the avocado pit in a damp paper tissue and place it in a glass jar
  4.  Put the glass in a warm place but out of direct sunlight
  5.  Change the tissue for a new one (also damp) every 3-4 days
  6.  Now be patient! You’ll see your pit starting to crack open in about 4-6 weeks, that’s the first sign of germination.
  7.  Once the root has grown for about 3-4 cms and the plant has shown its first green sprouts, you’re ready for planting.
  8.  Fill a plant pot with potting mix and gently place the avocado seed always keeping the top half above soil level
  9.  Place your new plant in a warm, draft-free place with lots of indirect sunlight and let it grow!
